Black and Whitelist toll

Can I blacklist and whitelist email addresses for my domain?

All incoming emails are automatically scanned by a Spam Filter and are assigned a spam score. This score determines whether the message will be classified as spam. Any email that scores 5 or higher is classified as spam and is sent straight to the Spam Bucket. Any email that scores lower than 5 is allowed through to your inbox.

With the increasing volume of spam and the complexity of filtering algorithms and anti-spam software, it is inevitable that ‘false-positives’ will occur. In order to prevent this from taking place, konsoleH enables you to ‘whitelist’ email addresses for delivery, bypassing the spam filter and ensuring that all emails sent from the specified address will arrive in your inbox.

It is also possible to ‘blacklist’ an email address or all email addresses related to a specific domain. It is important to note that these emails will not be delivered and will be permanently deleted from our servers. You should only blacklist emails that you do not wish to receive.

Should there be a scenario where an email address is both whitelisted and blacklisted, whitelisting will take precedence and the email will therefore be delivered to your inbox.
Please note that there is a quota of 500 email addresses for both whitelisting and blacklisting. Should you exceed 500 addresses, you will first need to delete an email address before adding a new address to the black/whitelisting.

How can I whitelist or blacklist an email address?

All incoming mail is scanned by a spam filter. Should you unconditionally wish to accept all emails from a particular address or domain and bypass the spam filter, then you should whitelist the address.

It is also possible to blacklist an email address, which will result in the mail being rejected before it gets to your mailbox and it will be permanently deleted.

Should there be a scenario where an email address is both whitelisted and blacklisted, whitelisting will take precedence and the email will therefore be delivered to your inbox.

Blacklisting or Whitelisting an email address or domain:
1.    Browse to konsoleH (https://secure.konsoleh.co.za/)
2.    Login with your Client number and Management password
3.    Select or search for a domain name in the ‘Hosting Service’ tab
4.    Select ‘Mail’ from the left-hand menu
5.    Select the ‘Black/Whitelist’ under Mail
6.    Click on the ‘Whitelist’ or ‘Blacklist’ button at the top of the window
7.    Enter the email address (or multiple comma-separated addresses) in the ‘Address’ field and Click ‘Add’.
8.    To remove addresses from the Blacklist/Whitelist, tick the checkbox next to the entry and select ‘Delete’ from the top menu
Should you wish to whitelist/blacklist a whole domain, wildcards are used eg.  *@domain.co.za or @domain.co.za will whitelist/blacklist all addresses on the domain.co.za domain.
Whitelisting, blacklisting and spam filtering occurs
after ‘mail forwarding’. The destination address of the forwarded mail would need to handle any mail filtering requirements.
